Located 5 minutes walk from the Camping des Grissotières the visit lasts from 1 h to 1 h ½, is through woods and marshes, along a trail of 1.5 km. The trail is lined with informative terminals on the life and habits of the main species encountered. In addition, three cabins house temporary and permanent exhibits (on the nesting boxes, for example).

Located 3.4 km from our campsite, the small port of La Baudissière, where many oyster farms are grouped around the channel of the same name, is a particularly picturesque place. The commune has undertaken to rehabilitate a dozen of them on the roadside to turn them into artists' studios open to the public. Very colourful, they remain the symbol of traditional oyster farming. You can buy oysters and mussels on the spot and taste the famous "églade" of mussels with pine needles...
Located 4.8 km from the campsite, the Museum of the Ile d'Oléron, in Saint-Pierre d'Oléron, is an excellent introduction to the discovery of the island. Its permanent collection presents the evolution of mankind on the island from the Neolithic period (manufacture of ornaments from shells) to the present day. The chronological tour of the exhibition rooms allows you to follow the themes of saliculture, viticulture, gemmage, fishing, traditional costumes, habitat...
Situated 5 km from our campsite in the commune of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron, within sight of Fort-Boyard, the golf course of Oléron faces the islands of the Atlantic Ocean. In an exceptional setting, along the ocean and the dunes of the east coast, the Golf d'Oléron, approved for nine holes, is a real green and quiet setting, one of the very few golf courses in France where the seafront is part of the playing field. The Oléron golf course faces the ocean for about 2 km, between Boyardville and the Arceau channel.
Located on the seashore only 6.5 km from our campground, south of Boyardville, the oyster village of Fort Royer is an exceptional site used and maintained by seven oyster farmers. The history of the oyster farming site of Fort Royer on Oleron Island dates back to the end of the 19th century and in the 1930's, there were about fifty active huts. Seventy years later, there are still six thanks to the association of the Oyster Farming and Natural Site of Fort-Royer. You can also buy and taste oysters on site.
Located only 8 km from our campsite, Fort Boyard, this fortress is situated in the department of Charente Maritime on the Atlantic coast. And precisely between the mouth of the river Charente, the Ile d'Aix, the Ile d'Oléron and the Ile Madame in a navigation basin that the Charente region calls the pertuis d'Antioche. The only way to visit Fort Boyard and its watchtower (the one where Père Fouras stands) is by sea from Boyarville.

Don't miss the visit of the fish auction organised by the tourist office. A flotilla of bright colours, the incessant ballet of boats in the port, intense activity on the quays in all seasons, this typical small fishing port is known and recognised for the quality of the products that are landed there: sea bass, sole, langoustines, céteaux....

Located 19 km from our campsite, the Chassiron lighthouse stands 46 meters above the ground, it was inaugurated on 1 December 1836. A beautiful staircase of 224 steps leads to the lantern, lit by incandescent acetylene light. Its light is 1 flash every 10 seconds, with a power of 250 W with metal halogens and an average range of 28 miles (45 km). From the top of this lighthouse, you can enjoy a superb view of the Oleron on the continental coast and finally on the ocean.
